Original Overland didn’t start as a business. It started as a feeling - the kind you get when something is built right, maintained with care, and passed down instead of replaced.
How It started
I’m Josh and my love for Land Cruisers started before I could even walk.
My uncle has been the original owner of his 1987 FJ60 - the same year I was born -
and I grew up watching him take meticulous care of that truck.
He drove it brand-new from North Carolina down to Austin, where he still drives it,
still loves it, and still treats it like part of the family.
Some of my earliest memories are climbing into that 60, hearing the doors shut with
that unmistakable Cruiser thunk, and feeling like I was sitting inside a piece of
living history. Those moments stuck with me.
They shaped how I see these rigs - not just as vehicles, but as stories, traditions,
and time capsules we get to keep alive.
Today, I wrench on my own truck, building on the same passion passed down to me.
And that’s why I started Original Overland.
To create gear with soul - made by Cruiser people, for Cruiser people.
Every design comes from real memories, real trucks, and the stories of the folks who
keep these legends running.
